But, we haven’t stopped there... we’re also behind Bingo Lane, Jackpotjoy Slots and other great free-to-play games.

Born in 2001 with just a handful of developers, we are now over 900 employees strong across 7 group offices worldwide with our headquarters in Central London.  Over 24 million players enjoy our 258 games, generating on average 6,028 chat messages every 15 minutes!

Whether it be through the awards we've won for innovation in Bingo and Slots, our commitment to using cutting edge technology, or simply our passion to innovate, thrill, and surprise, Gamesys constantly pushes the boundaries to be the best in class.

Our culture is visible everywhere. Visit our reception - you’ll find sweets and a giant monkey, in the design team a giant red lamp and the latest quad core mac pros; the breakout areas a Gamesys pool table and fridges full of beer, wine and soft drinks. In the meeting rooms you might find grass instead of carpet, in the summer you’ll meet all our families together for a celebration and in the winter you can find Mexican wrestlers or circus acts roaming around. Weekly social and sports events give you the opportunity to stretch both your mind and body, whether it be getting involved in a meetup or brownbag session, playing in the poker tournament or joining one of the many sports teams. But our culture is not just in what you can see it's in everything we do, we're hard workers and we get stuck in. Born in 2001 with just a handful of developers, we are now over 900 employees strong across 7 group offices worldwide with our headquarters in Central London.  Over 24 million players enjoy our 258 games, generating on average 6,028 chat messages every 15 minutes!

Whether it be through the awards we've won for innovation in Bingo and Slots, our commitment to using cutting edge technology, our talks at Google I/O and Code Mesh; or simply our passion to innovate, thrill, and surprise, Gamesys constantly pushes the boundaries to be the best in class.

Weekly social and sports events give you the opportunity to stretch both your mind and body, whether it be getting involved in a meetup or brownbag session, playing in the poker tournament or joining one of the football teams. But our culture is not just in what you can see it's in everything we do, we're hard workers and we get stuck in. We have fun, making fun and our vision is to invent, play and discover together, to craft experiences that thrill our players and rock the world.

    Poker & Games Platform

Our Poker & Games Platform teams have built a modern, highly scaleable, multiplayer games platform using rulebooks to provide support for multiple different games and variants.  Our goal is to use modern software engineering techniques and technologies with the highest quality design to provide the best user experience.  The platform is a component system written in Java and making use of many modern technologies such as Mongo DB, Active MQ, Camel and Hazelcast.  Automated deployment is carried out using Capistrano and we use no down-time rolling releases as much of the time as possible.  Our front-end is based on a mobile-optimised, modular, single page, Java Script application using Backbone.js, Handlebars.js, Require.js and Jasmine.js.  We use Grunt.js and Node.js for build and automation.  For web design we use Sass and Compass.  This supports our game clients which are written in OO Lua which is executed on our multi-platform game engine that allows us to support Flash, iOS, Android and HTML5.

We are fervent believers in Agile development and use the Scrum methodology to deliver high-quality software with frequent (2-weekly), incremental,  releases of software.  We strongly encourage TDD with a very high test coverage and the need for interface versioning and backwards compatibility require a high-level of software engineering from the team.  We have only recently launched our first site, Virgin Poker on Facebook and we are adding more features, games and variants at the same time as striving to improve our software engineering.  If you can help us to achieve our ambitious goals we want to talk to you.

  • Project Manager
    London, United Kingdom

    The Role

Here at Gamesys we are looking for a hands-on and technically capable Agile Project Manager with strong experience in managing e-commerce and mobile application development projects. Working closely with Development Managers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Programme Managers and PMO you will co-ordinate and drive delivery for projects delivering into our large programmes. Your main focus will be helping to co-ordinate and drive project delivery by identifying and managing dependencies, communicating with all stakeholders, putting together progress reports and escalating delivery risks. Hitting delivery dates is important but we don’t seek to compromise quality; we’d prefer to evaluate the MVP.

A significant focus will be on promoting incremental and iterative delivery. The teams use a variety of Agile software delivery approaches. Your Agile experiences - using Scrum, XP, or Lean - will be an asset. Help us to identify and eliminate waste! As an Agile PM you'll work to reduce impediments, potentially run the agile ceremonies, and have your finger on the project and development heartbeats.

Gamesys and indeed our products are constantly evolving and with that means the need for a Project Manager who isn't afraid to manage conflicts and context switches, can deal with ambiguity, and has the ability to understand, manage and resolve dependency issues among teams.

    The Person

We're looking for an experienced Project Manager who has experience working with Agile Teams. Gamesys is recruiting an experienced Agile Project Manager to deliver multiple projects, each at different stages of the lifecycle.  This role will work closely with the Directors, the project team, product owners, technical teams, business stakeholders and third parties, and reports to the Head of Programme Delivery.

    Essential skills and experiences:

    • Clarifying requirements and understanding the work required across multiple teams.
    • Reporting to the Programme and key stakeholders on the delivery of the project.
    • Planning the project and pro-actively monitoring its overall progress, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate.
    • Quality assurance of the project deliverables.
    • Managing the projects’s budget (resource spend), tracking the expenditures and costs.
    • Ensuring that the delivery of new products or services from the project are to the appropriate levels of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the project plan.
    • Ensuring that there is efficient allocation of resources and skills and collaborating with the technical owners within the Agile framework to best allocate resources to the Project.
    • Similarly ensuring efficient allocation of business resources and skills in respect of the non-technical aspects of the delivery of the Project.
    • Managing third party contributions to the project where applicable.
    • Facilitating the communications with all stakeholders, including the running of project board meetings for larger projects.
    • Managing risks to the project's successful outcome.
    • You’ll focus on the details while keeping the overall purpose and goals of the projects in mind. And you can juggle a number of different projects at once.
    • You’ll take ownership of and see through the resolution of impediments – you’ll need to talk to lots of people to figure out what’s happening and know when it’s right to escalate.
    • You are passionate about Agile approaches.
    • Ablility to follow technical discussions at a high level.
    • Ability to build relationships with teams and stakeholders

  • Team Lead - Javascript
    London, United Kingdom

    The Role

Client is the department that brings all the wonderful things Gamesys makes to the world. We're the concierges of Gamesys, and take our love affair with our players very seriously. We're looking for someone to lead a new team we're forming to bring even more love to the customers, and value to the business.  Much of what we do in Client is done using front-end technologies - Javascript, HTML and CSS so having some experience in this is vital, and a Team Lead can expect it to grow. The rest of the work is Java based, be that Tapestry or writing automation tests.  Team Leads are responsible for leading a team of engineers made up of Javascript, Java, QA engineers and developers-in-test. They are the first level line managers in our business.  A Team Lead’s duties are diverse; these range from work assignment to managing team delivery, driving best practice, to maintaining team morale – and making decisions to help the business deliver its goals and keep the company ahead of the game. Team leads are critically important in their team's reviews and setting objectives. This is an important role for both higher management and team members alike.

This role is in addition to the individual’s role as a developer or QA. As a rough rule of thumb, the split of accountabilities is 50/50, although this can vary quite a bit depending on the nature of the team, its evolution, and the cycle of work. As it is a new team it is likely that the mentoring and management side will start off being a far greater share. In addition the Team Lead may take on the responsibilities of Scrum Master, or work with the team to give that role to another team member.

    • Set team objectives – provide clarity on what tasks needs to be completed, outputs required and timescales, ensuring that these are realistic and the employee has the right level of competence and resources to enable them to deliver. Be clear on what standards are expected and what behaviours are encouraged/ discouraged. Hold teams accountable for meeting goals and the quality of work they produce.
    • Optimise team performance – organise team processes to ensure outputs and delivery are optimised. This means tweaking the teams Agile practices, and working with the Products Owners to endure early understanding of delivery issues.
    • Assess performance against team objectives. Provide regular feedback to employees on their performance. Conduct fair, balanced and constructive bi-annual reviews/ rating of an individual's performance against the delivery of their goals and work behaviours and attitudes. Team Leads have visibility of their teams’ reward structure and so propose salary changes at annual salary review to next level management.
    • Team communication – clearly communicate the company’s vision and specific objectives to the team, ensuring that everybody understands their individual roles and responsibilities. Cascade relevant company announcements and keep the team up to date on the reasons for any new developments or changes in goals or in the organisation. Collect regular feedback from the team and determine actions on this, acting decisively to remove barriers to success, where possible. Periodically update the company on the team’s progress.
    • Foster an atmosphere of trust and open dialogue - Ensure staff experience a working environment where they can voice questions, suggestions or constructive dissent for open discussion. Provide support and coaching rather than criticism, even where mistakes have been made. Treat all team members fairly, equally and with respect.
    • Team development – take an active interest in and support individuals’ personal development. Identify areas where individuals in the team can improve and either provide one-to-one or team coaching or support them to identify suitable development resources. Understand the career aspirations of the individuals in the team and be able to provide useful and actionable ongoing feedback on their performance, progress and personal development.
    • Team collaboration – if team decisions need to be made, the Team Leader should consult the team through managed discussions, ensuring involvement and that discussions are focused and productive, and where necessary lead to a decision.
    • Team motivation – motivate the team to work toward their objectives, boosting morale where it is found to be low by identifying why morale is low and taking specific action to try to fix any problems.
    • Recognition – ensure employees are visibly recognised (and where possible rewarded) for consistent great work or an outstanding one-off contribution to the organisation.
    • Be a role model for effective team working - set an example to the team on how to work effectively and carry out tasks to the best of their ability. "Practice what you preach”.
    • Engage with wider business - Engage upwards or with adjacent teams to contribute to continuous improvement and collaboration and communication.
    Key Skills
    • At least 2 years previous team leading experience. This is a must for this role as you will be forming and cementing a new team.
    • 3 years Javascript experience, the exact libraries aren't as important as being a good Javascript developer.
    • Solid experience of working in an Agile Scrum team, ideally having performed or covered Scrum Master duties.
    • Exposure to Java web development.
    The Person

A good Team Lead will have the ability to communicate well, build relationships, and to motivate a team. They will tend to be inquisitive, positive, enthusiastic and empowering. They also need to be organised, responsible and dependable. In addition to good people skills, they must have a strong technical grasp of their platform/ product area.

  • Legal (1)
  • Commercial Legal Counsel - Media, Advertising, Software
    London, United Kingdom

    Legal Counsel

To help drive the rapid, ongoing growth of the business we are looking to hire a full time legal counsel to draft and negotiate commercial agreements and to advise on advertising matters, product and brand launches. The role will entail providing advice to various parts of the business across all of the Gamesys Group's offices (including the UK, Gibraltar, Malta, the US, and Spain) in respect of all the territories in which we offer products and services. By way of example, such matters may include:

    • Negotiating software licence and services agreements with major games suppliers and other technology providers;
    • Negotiating brand licence agreements with TV production companies, film studios, literary publishers and other major brand holders;
    • Negotiating agreements with payment processors, data processors and data analytics providers and other service providers;
    • Drafting and negotiating agreements with media buying agencies, media owners and advertising agencies;
    • Advising on promotional and website terms and conditions and privacy policies; and
    • Providing general advice on advertising, consumer and data protection law and regulation.

The legal team at Gamesys prides itself on providing first class work product and advice and we are looking for a candidate that will help maintain those standards within the team and hopefully raise them still further.

    Experience/Competence

The successful candidate will have 2-4 years’ PQE and prior experience in data protection and e-commerce law and drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, preferably with a focus on software, technology, advertising and media contracts.

Betting and gaming legal experience is an advantage but is not a pre-requisite.

The successful candidate will likely have trained and had post qualification experience in a top city firm, preferably in a commercial media or technology team and may also have some in-house experience in the online, gaming, media or technology sectors.

We are looking for a great new member to a friendly team who will thrive in a robust and incredibly fast paced commercial environment where everyone’s contribution really matters.

    The Legal Team

The Legal Team at Gamesys seeks to provide first class, responsive, pragmatic and commercially minded legal advice to the Gamesys Group in respect of all of its global operations.

The Gamesys Group operates numerous brands, some which were originally created in-house (such as the market leading Jackpotjoy brand), as well as major brands licensed from third parties (such as Virgin Games, Heart Bingo and Caesars Casino).  Gamesys is also one of the few operators in the industry to create and develop its own software platform, for both our real money and social games operations.  Consequently, the Legal Team provides advice in respect of commercial and legal issues for intellectual property owned by the Gamesys Group, as well as intellectual property which we manage as an exclusive licensee for our carefully selected, high profile brand partners. We regularly advise on significant corporate and commercial transactions (including brand, content and software licensing), IP portfolio and brand management, advertising, data protection, consumer law and gaming regulation.  Much of this advice is provided by the Legal Team in-house but, where necessary, we also engage and manage appropriate local counsel in the markets in which we operate.

The Legal Team started at Gamesys in 2012 and has rapidly grown to seven members comprising, the General Counsel, four other lawyers and two paralegals as the Team has continued to expand the Gamesys Group’s continuing growth in existing and new markets.  We are based in London, at the head office for the Gamesys Group in the heart of Piccadilly.

Day to day, our aim is to protect the company from legal risk whilst ensuring that we minimise legal issues that could otherwise be an impediment to the commercial needs of our dynamic and innovative business.  This means that we often have to craft creative but high quality, robust agreements and advice that provide practical solutions to real business issues, sometimes under challenging time pressures.  We endeavour to invest time in developing understanding within the wider business on legal issues, through carrying out training sessions, sending email updates and creating general legal guidelines and policies. The Legal Team members themselves are also strongly encouraged and supported in continuing their own professional development.

    About Us

We are on a mission to become the world’s most entertaining online gaming company. It all started with Jackpotjoy but along the way we have grown into the award-winning team of designers, developers and operators behind some of the leading gaming sites and apps including Virgin Games, Sun Bingo, and Caesar’s Casino.

We have fun, making fun and our vision is to invent, play and discover together, to craft experiences that thrill our players and rock the world.
